Kitt + Erin // Washington Backyard Wedding
I first remember seeing Kitt and Erin at Caitlin and Mikey’s wedding, which I photographed a few years ago. I chatted with them at cocktail hour and they told me how they have been hiking the PCT together, and took a little break to come celebrate the wedding of two of their close friends. Instantly I noticed how in love they were and how incredible this friend group was. It was one of the first times I was photographing a wedding and just wanted to be friends with all of them! I think that’s probably because that tight knit friend group reminds me of mine back home in Nebraska.
Fast forward to 2015 and I got to document their special day! Erin had a new look with a cute pixie cut that she dressed up with a beaded head band. Kitt, dapper and smiling, as always, greeted me on the wedding with a big hug and questions about all my travels. Friends; that’s what I consider these two.
They got ready at Erin’s parent’s house and then the setting of the ceremony was the backyard of Kitt’s parents house, which was filled with apple trees and farm animals. They walked down the aisle together, had a hysterical speech of how Kitt and Erin met (via Craigslist, I believe?) and exchanged tears, laughter and vows.
I’ll never forget the magical light that day, golden and gleaming through the apple orchard trees and illuminating their love. I am so happy I was there to celebrate and document this wedding and I’m so excited for Kitt and Erin’s new adventures in Salt Lake City, where they are just about to move to!
